My Social Media Message

How many Social Networking / Social Media sites are you on?  I don’t really want to answer that myself.  But, I know many friends who would say that some are for business and others for family & friends.

Well, actually…  many people believe that they can achieve this arbitrary division.  Unfortunately, people who are considering doing business with you don’t recognize the difference.

Put yourself in their shoes. If you were thinking of hiring or doing business with someone and they had a Facebook page, wouldn’t you check it out? Of course. Weather you’re a college student, a new professional or the president of a large company remember If it’s out on social media, it will be found.

Rather than debating that point, consider the possible wisdom in developing a coherent strategy to manage your social presence. If you start with a clear goal for being online, you’ll begin to see how each tool you choose to use fits within the picture. If your MySpace page doesn’t fit, then you’ve got a decision to make.

Where else in your life would you consider proceeding without a plan? The social web in no different.  One tool I’ve found to help pull everything together for me and for anyone who wants to find me is Xeesm.  You can view my profile if you promise not to laugh when you see how many platforms I’m on.  I’m an early adopter, you knew that :-)
